Introduction:

GTA – San Andreas is the fifth game in the GTA series developed and published by leading game developers company Rockstar Games. It was originally released for PlayStation and later on Xbox and Windows versions were also released. It was a major hit on all game platforms. It faced some controversies on its launch due to the explicit sex minigame, which results in its re rating and thus moved it to adult category games. Although this feature was completely removed from game later, this retained its normal ratings.

Development:

GTA – San Andreas was developed by Rockstar North (A unit of Rockstar game) and published by Rockstar games. It is the fifth game of the GTA series and third 3D game in the series. The non-linear environment of the game allows players to play the game in their own way.

Plot:

GTA: San Andreas revolves around Carl “CJ” Thomson who returns to Los Santos (a fictional city designed after Los Angeles) from Liberty city after getting news of his mother’s murder. Game proceeds with “CJ” trying to find out the plot behind his mother’s murder and rearranges his gang. Game comprises of three fiction cities Los Santos (real Los Angeles), San Fierro (real San Francisco), and Las Venturas (real Las Vegas).

Thumbs Up:

Like its previous successful versions, especially GTA: Vice City, this game is also full of many thrilling missions and exiting gameplays. There are many features added in GTA: San Andreas such as Gang Wars, Car Customization, Character Personalization, New Weapons etc which makes GTA: San Andreas a non forgettable experience. Storyline is also good with many turns and surprises. Main character of GTA: San Andreas is capable of swimming and climbing on walls, which was not possible in earlier versions. Dialogues in the game are very well written and casting is also a positive point of the game. Moreover the artificial intelligence in the game is also a positive point of the game. This improved artificial intelligence helps to make gameplay more real and more exciting. All you can say about this game is that, It is probably the best game of the series.

Thumbs Down:

Most discouraging point of game is its soundtrack. It could have been far better than it is. Frame rate of game is not stable which another negative point is. At some places gameplay becomes boring especially while it need “CJ” to go from one city to another. Rest everything is good in this game with no major pitfall.

Responses:

GTA: San Andreas did amazingly well when released in market due to its high craze among game lovers. Around 12 million units of PlayStation 2 version were sold till March 5, 2005. NPD group declared it as the best selling video game in USA as on September 25, 2007, with 8.6 million units sold in America and around 20 million units throughout the world. Along with this great reception from gamelovers, it also grabs various awards such as “PlayStation 2 Game of The Year Award”, “Best PlayStation 2 Action Game”, “Best Story of PlayStation” and many more.
